Care & Material Guidelines
The majority of Foundryon design objects are intended strictly for interior use. Because we work with raw and living finishes, our objects evolve over time. Please read the guidelines below for your specific object.
1. Uncoated Indoor Objects
These objects feature raw steel that will naturally interact with its environment.
Cleaning: Clean only with a dry cloth. Never use water or liquid cleaners.
Rust Prevention: To retard the natural rusting, you can apply a thin film of fine oil. If you don´t have WD-40 at hand, standard household olive oil works perfectly too.
2. Coated Indoor Objects
These objects have a protective coating but still require gentle care to preserve their finish.
Cleaning: Clean only with a dry cloth. Avoid abrasive materials or chemicals.
3. Indoor & Outdoor Objects (e.g., Rosette Nebula)
Some objects are specifically engineered to weather the elements.
What to Expect: These objects arrive with a thick layer of rust. Whether placed indoors or outdoors, they will continue to develop a deeper layer of rust over time.
Special Object Maintenance
The Shapeshifter: This object features two Allen (Inbus) screws on both ends. To preserve the perfectly adjusted friction between its sections, these screws need to be occasionally tightened by hand.
Material & Return Policy
Natural Patina & Workshop Traces: Steel objects possess a natural material patina. They may feature occasional workshop creation traces (minor marks or scuffs from the making process). These are completely normal for a body of art and do not constitute a reason for a return or refund.
Oxidization & Rusting: Oxidation (colloquially known as rusting) is a natural chemical process for uncoated steel. For both indoor pieces and intentionally rusted outdoor pieces like the Rosette Nebula, this aging process is fully intentional and does not constitute a reason for a return or refund.
